The Nissan 300zx came first in the z31 body then in the z32 body type. Both cars are the descendants of the successful 280z that featured an inline 6 cylinder engine with an optional turbo or n/a. The 280z also brought the market for Nissan's Z sports car line. The first 300zx came out in 1984 and featured a v6 turbocharged engine that put out a lot of horsepower at the time. In Japan they went by the name fairlady z but when they came to America they were renamed to the 300zx. They were very successful both in the race scene and street scene. A z31 held the production car speed record at one time going 260 mph! Both the z31 and z32 have won races such as 24 hours of Le Mans and have been named best import car of the 1990 by Motortrend.
